Ledo Impresses at Combine

Analysts covering the NBA Draft Combine, particularly former Duke star Jay Williams, raved about Ricky Ledo the past couple of days, noting that he has been drawing interest from several different scouts present at the Combine.

Ledo looked as good, if not better, than most of the other shooting guards going through drills on the first day at the Combine on Thursday afternoon. Ledo’s group contained several legitimate prospects including: Tim Hardaway Jr. (Michigan), Reggie Bullock (UNC), Brandon Paul (Illinois), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Georgia), Archie Goodwin (Kentucky), Vander Blue (Marquette), and BJ Young (Arkansas).

It has been reported that Ledo interviewed with the Detroit Pistons today, a team that didn’t take the interview lightly, firing questions rapidly, and intensely grilling him. The Pistons, probably like many other teams, were curious why he switched schools multiple times in high school and why he left school early?

With a weak draft class and the curiosity of scouts that surrounds Ledo, he could easily be a first round pick this year. As a few of the analysts noted, Ledo’s hype coming out of prep school still looms fresh in the minds of many scouts, which could make him an intriguing pick.

Unlike other drafts which may be predictable, this year’s simply isn’t. Although Ledo is doing everything in his power to show teams that he has the talent and is mature enough to be a draft pick, you just never know in this year’s draft. We’ll just have to sit back and see.
