Bryce Cotton has been invited to try out for a spot on team USA for the World University Games, which will be played from July 6-17 in Kazan, Russia.
Cotton isn’t the only Friar that will be present at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Teammate Kris Dunn and head coach Ed Cooley will be there this month as well, as Dunn will be fighting for a spot on the under-19 team, while Cooley was named a court coach for the U19 team.
Cotton is well deserving of the try out, leading the Friars to the quarterfinals of the NIT, in a season in which he averaged a league-best 19.7 points per game in the conference formerly known as the Big East and was named a First Team All-Conference selection.
Cotton will report to Colorado Springs later this month and training camp will get underway on June 24 and will go until July 1, when the team will officially be announced.
Davidson’s Bob McKillop has been chosen as head coach of the USA World University Games team, while Michigan’s John Beilein and South Carolina’s Frank Martin will be the assistant coaches.
