Friars, Big East Have Strong Showing in Latest ESPN 2014 Class Rankings

Ben Bentil

The recent commitment of Ben Bentil, to go along with prior commitments from ESPN100 recruits Paschal Chukwu and Jalen Lindsay, has established the Friars as having one of the top 2014 recruiting classes in the country.

In the latest 2014 class rankings, Providence was tabbed #16 among the top 25 2014 recruiting classes, down two spots from the prior rankings, but still holding strong.

However, the Friars weren’t the only Big East team getting love in the latest rankings, as Providence was one of five Big East teams tabbed in the top 25.

Other Big East teams in top 25:

4–Seton Hall

5–Georgetown

10–Xavier

25–Villanova

Friars Ready to Start Season

The Friars have already started practice and are ready to kick off, what should be, a solid 2013-14 season. After showing signs of their potential towards the end of last season, there is much anticipation around Providence to see what this year’s team will do.

Providence will host RIC in their only exhibition game at the Dunk on November 2 at 7pm.

They will then be tested right away, as the Friars will host the Eagles of Boston College on November 8 at 6pm at the Dunk in their first regular season game.
