The Friars hosted highly coveted Niagara University transfer Antoine Mason this past weekend. Not too much to go off of, but the 6’3″ guard did tweet that his visit to Providence went well:
Mason had previously visited Auburn University and it’s been reported that he will visit Boston College in the next week.
Mason is one of the nation’s top returning scorers, averaging 37.6 minutes played and 25.6 points per game during his junior season at Niagara last year. Over just three seasons at Niagara, Mason ranks third in program history in scoring with 1,923 total points. After Niagara finished with a 19-14 record in 2012-13, the Purple Eagles fell off last year, going just 7-26 including a conference record of 3-17.
In Providence, Mason would get exactly what he wants, the ability to play for a winning team and the opportunity to step in and be a main contributor right away.
